two halves.

"As much as your countries represent and fulfill different parts of you and what you enjoy about life, as much as you have formed unbreakable bonds with people you love in both places, as much as you feel truly at home in either one, so you are divided in two."

I saw this quote on a friend's Facebook page, and found it highly applicable to the situation which I am in. Never would I have thought this would some day happen to me when I unwillingly left home 8 years ago. I still remember how I used to cry like a baby at the airport every single time I sat on a three-hour flight from Hanoi to Singapore. I still remember how I used to send snail mails to my family members and friends just to tell them how much I missed them. I still remember how I used to count down every day to the next time I would be home again.

Guess what? People changed and things changed. No longer are tears shed at the airport now. Facebook is the new means of communications. And I can't wait to go back to Singapore when I am home. Don't get me wrong here, I swear I still love Hanoi and the people and things here dearly. However, there are people and things in Singapore which have formed part of me too.

Well, I don't want to imagine how much harder it is for people who have been in this situation for years longer than I have, or for people who have been in worse situations (for example, three thirds). I guess there will be one day in the future when I'll have to decide where I really belong, and I don't really have much time till then.
